Autism awareness nail art

Last one for April Autism Awareness month! I was really struggling with my designs this year because in past years, I found out that not everyone likes the puzzle piece & blue symbolism. But how do you make an Autism Awareness mani without the symbolism that everyone recognizes? Click to see more!

I myself have Asperger's Syndrome, which is a form of Autism. There are many preconceptions about this condition but you know me, I'm not scary or aggressive. I'm not a retard. I'm not afraid of people and do not wish to be alone all the time. I don't sit rocking front and back all day, or flap my hands around. People with autism are very different so please put aside preconceptions and find out what each individual person is like!

I don't even need people to really understand what I go through every day. What I do need is people to respect me for who I am, and to know that when I say something is hard for me, or I can't do it, that I'm not just being difficult or trying to get out of doing the work. This goes for any disability, I think!
I need a quiet place to work and live so I can concentrate. I need a steady daily rhythm and to know what's coming so I won't be surprised. That's all :) I'm pretty normal and you can't see my Autism on the outside, most of the time you won't even notice anything because the person it's hardest on, is me.

I used Picture Polish Lakodom for the base. The words are painted with acrylic paint and my Roubloff 00 detail brush. I used my OPI Color Paints for the puzzle pieces.
