Gold glitter with pink roses nail art

Hey there! I painted some freehand pink roses to match this delicious gold holo glitter polish! The middle rose should have been a little bit bigger I think, half of it is obscured by the curve of my nails. Oh well, still pretty! Click to see more, plus a video tutorial!

This gorgeous gold glitter base? Yeah, that's Digital Nails Solar Flare. It is to DROOL OVER! I never gave gold glitter a second glance until I met this little beauty over here. I used her in my Christmas mani and I'm using her again now. I did always like the combination of gold and pink, I think it's very feminine, so I gave it a go!

The roses are freehand with acrylic paint and my Basic One Gold detail brush from Christrio Scotland and I topped it all with HK Girl top coat from Glisten & Glow (I buy this from Hypnotic Polish).
For this nail art, start off with a gold glitter base polish. Apply liquid latex around the nail for easy cleanup later (you can also use medical tape or scotch tape) and use a small piece of makeup sponge to apply a bit of white acrylic paint on the nail. Remove the liquid latex :)

You now have a nice rough surface to paint on! Take your black acrylic paint and paint the outlines of a rose. Just go petal by petal, I worked my way inwards from the outer petals but maybe you prefer starting with the inner rose bud and then going outwards. After you've done the outline, fill it in with pink (or red, if that's more your thing). Keep the black lines visible but be sure to fill up the whole shape.
When it's all nice and pink, use a darker shade of pink to make lowlights. You can mix your pink on your palette by adding a tiny bit of dark red to get the right shade. Lowlights can be found anywhere that a shadow might occur, and anywhere that the light wouldn't reach certain parts (like underneath the rose). After that, just add some white to your pink and mix it on your palette to add some highlights. You can do this on the folded parts of the petals, the rims that are hanging over.

Retrace your black lines to finish up the rose and make it look nice. Then just add a top coat and you're done!
