3D M&M's nail art

Put your hands up if you can taste them just by looking!! My first post as a brand spankin' new 28 year old had to be something fun and festive ;-)

My birthday was aaaaawesome, I spent the morning shopping with my mom (she's my favorite shopping buddy), and on the way home we got sandwiches at the deli shop. The afternoon was for reading in the sun, just the PERFECT day!

This design is really easy peasy: it's just making dots with 3D gel called 'Sugar' from Madam Glam, and I covered the dots with acrylic paint. Added the M's on top et voila! Please feel free to use my (non-affiliate) code NAR30 for 30% off your entire Madam Glam order!

I received Madam Glam Sugar as a press sample. Opinions expressed are 100% my own and not influenced in any way other than the quality of the product itself.

Kawaii birthday nail art

It's my friend E's birthday today! I can't go to her party on Saturday so... I made her this nail art design! Happy birthday E! No bunnies this time but I hope you'll like it anyways :-p

My base is the House of Mirrors chrome powder from TwinkledT. This pigment is larger than the other chrome pigments I've tried, so it gives a slightly different outcome. Still very mirror-y (yes that's a word now) and oh... my... this stuff gets EVERYWHERE! I sparkle all over my skin, and it has taken a liking to my phone screen too.

I painted the kawaii birthday treats with acrylic paint and a couple of brushes from the TwinkledT Mint Coco brush set, as well as my trusted Roubloff 00 detail brush from Adnails Manucure. The balloons are Nailfetti! So much fun!

Glow balloons nail art

They're sooooo cute! I usually paint really tall people but I went with a kind of Munchkin-look this time, for increased adorableness.

The balloons are 3D-ish, I added a little blob of clear sculpting gel on top of them for special effects ;-)

Also, glow in the dark! The background is Serum No. 5 Guiding Light, did I mention in my earlier posts how much I LOVE this polish?
All of the balloons are painted with little dots of different Serum No. 5 polishes too: Awesome Blossom, Wisteria-ously Bright, Blue Blazes, Glowin' of Eden, Solar Power and Orange You Sunny.

Aaaand the cute couple was painted with acrylic paint.

Birthday cocktail nail art

Oh boy this cocktail turned out so bad XD My birthday was great though! Nice and quiet but a lot of fun, it was the perfect birthday for me :)

The base is SuperChic Lacquer On Point and I made a gradient using the OPI Color Paints. The bubbles are easy if you know how! Just water down some acrylic paint, paint a dot and carefully suck up the liquid in the center of the bubble. I like to use a tissue but I've also seen it done with a dry brush or a cotton swab.

Chique studded nails for my birthday

Hi girls! As promised, I'm back with the other part of my birthday mani. I had two polishes that I hadn't used yet, both bought at a super amazing discount so I'm very proud of these two pretties. The first one is Illamasqua Grab (this has an amazing formula, very opaque and smooth) and Picture Polish Focus. I expecting this last one to have more of an 'oompf' than it did. The glass flecks didn't seem to make it any prettier, but the color is still very nice.

I wanted something classy and chique to contrast the chaos on my other hand (I blogged about this yesterday, see it HERE), so I chose this design. It's a design I usually go to when I want a more serious look, the half-in-half as I call it, with a sort of slash in the middle. I'm sure it has a different name but this is what I think of when I see it.

I polished my nails the regular way with Illamasqua Grab, and added the other half of Picture Polish Focus. I used the brush of the polish itself, I was lazy ;-) Adding the studs was more of a challenge, as they were so tiny and I was working with my non-dominant hand.

My birthday was a good one with lots of polish gifts. Actually, I asked everyone for gift cards so I got to pick my own polish gifts! Even better! Ofcourse I got more Picture Polish and also some Halo Hues so be on the lookout for more awesomeness coming your way! Thanks for watching!

Painted landscape for my birthday

Hi girls! Ermahgerd, I can't believe I haven't even shown you my birthday nail art yet! I spent weeks thinking about what I wanted on my nails for my birthday, but then when the day rolled around I still didn't know. I looked back on all my previous nail wins to determine my favorite technique and go from there. I found my beautiful sunflowers from a while back and I knew that that was the way to go. This freehand painting is the best stress relief I know, I feel great doing it, times flies and I'm very happy with the result. I was never into painting but somehow this feels different. Painting nails is different. Every little stroke counts because it will be very visible.

For my birthday, I googled landscapes and I found one that I like very much. It might be more of a winter look instead of an end-of-summer look, but I don't care. I love this view.

I used a lo-hot of different polishes and I didn't know which one to hold. So I went with the empty-hand pose. There are snowy mountains in the background that didn't turn out very well, but the water is amazing and so is the shore.

And this was my inspiration. This is where I found it but I'm not sure who the artist is. It's a gorgeous view anyhow and I love that it inspired me. I just hope I did it justice.

*cough cough* Me wouldn't be me if there wasn't something funny about my nails on my birthday. That's because my other hand was painted differently! How? You'll see that tomorrow! Thank you for watching!

Party balloons on my nails

I was invited to a birthday party this weekend! I don't often go to parties because it's too much people, too much noise and I come home feeling like I'm dead. But my friend's birthday was a quiet one with a bunch of girls with autism. We all know eachother from a group, it's not exactly a support group but we talk about stuff. So it was a quiet dinner with lots of fun and no music. Exactly how I like it!

For the occasion, I made party balloons on my nails. Her favorite color is blue/greenish so those are the colors that I chose for my balloons. I topped it off with two coats of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow so that's why it looked a bit mattified.

Nail mail: Born Pretty Store

There were some things I've been wanting for a while now. I had some birthday money to spend, so consider these my late birthday gifts!

I decided to shop to my heart's content at Born Pretty Store. It's my new favorite shop! They have, like, EVERYTHING for your nails, it's all really cheap, and the best part: FREE SHIPPING! You can even get 10% off your order using the code NCW21

I bought a large stamping plate, a roll of striping tape, a rhinestone wheel and a set of three striping brushes.

Check out my camera, my hand and part of my head reflected in the plate

The stamping plate is CK-04 by a fauxnad brand called KandNail. This is only the second stamping plate I ever bought so don't expect me to be the expert, but I think it's pretty damn cool. The designs are etched deep enough and picking them up is easy, even I can do it. There are a lot of different designs, I chose a plate with full-nail designs but there are so many choices! You'll be seeing a lot of stamping 'round here :D

A while ago, I said I was stingy on using rhinestones because I didn't have that many. Consider that problem OVER! I'm drowning in rhinestones now :D I love this rhinestone wheel! There are 12 different colors and I want to make a rhinestone rainbow mani soooo badly! I love how tiny these are, just 2mm, a tiny bit smaller than the ones I already had.

I've been painting my hand drawn nail art with some old brush I found in my grandma's stash of craft supplies. It's been fine, but I've been curious about actual stripers. All three together only cost $2,29, a reasonable price for something I'm not sure about. I haven't had the chance to try them out yet but you can be sure I'll be able to tell you soon!

I've seen so many beautiful nails using striping tape, and I've tried to get by with cutting strips off of scotch tape, but it's just not the same. So I thought it was about time I got my own roll to try it out. I limited myself to one roll for now, but if I like it, I'll be sure to order some more because hey, no shipping fees!

My order came to about €11, that's about $14, with the ten percent discount. It took about two weeks to get here by mail. I'm very satisfied with what I got for my money. I think this is a great birthday present!

The Born Pretty Store has so many goodies and pretties in their shop, so just go check it out. And don't forget to get 10% off by using the code NCW21!

All the products were bought with my own money. I received no compensation for this review. All the opinions on this blog and in this article are 100% mine.

Rainbow cake!

Look how pretty!

It's my rainbow cake! I made it for my boyfriend's birthday (lucky guy, isn't he?). His parents were hosting a barbecue this weekend and all of his family was there. He mentioned something a looong while ago about a rainbow cake and how cool he thought that was.

It took a crap load of effort so I won't be doing this again soon! I had to bake each layer separately, that alone took hours. I put them all on top of eachother without icing, because he doesn't like that (and neither do I). I melted some chocolate and covered the cake with it.

Apparently it tasted good because even though we cut tiny little pieces for everyone, there was just a tiny quarter left when we went home.

And it's the Loch Ness monster on top of the cake! This idea is actually from a friend who made Nessie on top of a cupcake once. I liked it so much that I replicated it, but bigger. Hers was better, though.

It tasted really good and it looked even better!

Birthday nail art

I usually feel pretty stingy about using my nail stickers or the few rhinestones I do have. I've always been like that, even as a kid with my stickers. The thought of never getting to use them again scares me a little bit. Yeah I know! I'm a bit nuts, but that's why you love me, non?

For my birthday I wanted to get over this problem and just use my pretty nail stuff for what it was meant. I painted my nails in my prettiest pink, I drew some silver stripes freehand and I used my favorite polish: Rainbow Apparition! (featured in my birthday giveaway)

Also, little flower nail stickers went into this design, plus two tiny rhinestones, one on each ring fingers. The flowers are glow in the dark!

Under a black light

In the dark!
It works really well, despite it coming in a pack of 3 sheets for just €0,79. So I have lots of cool glowy stickers left!

When a girl gives you flowers...

...kiss her! This is the bouquet I got for my mom. I chose every flower that went in there myself, the lady in the shop was looking at me like I was crazy, apparently it went against everything she'd learned :-p

I started with some orangy yellow gerbera's and then went from there. I also chose light pink roses, yellow uh... other flowers :-p I have no idea what they're called. And some fillers like those simple yet elegant green leaves.

My mom was pleasantly surprised and she said she absolutely loved the color combination. It fits her style perfectly :D She told me that she thinks I picked the sweetest flowers. To which I replied it was for the sweetest mom. Ahwwww she's such a cutie!
